History
The founder Eleni Skalbania at the end of 1977 had the opportunity to manage the Devonshire hotel, the result was a great economic change for the hotel, the next challenge was to be co-owner of the Georgia hotel, it was a great success, after the sale of the Georgia hotel, Eleni Skalbania wanted to open her own hotel in downtown Vancouver.
In 1984 she purchased the old Mayfair Apartment Hotel where lawyers and judges from all over British Columbia who came to session at the courthouse stayed. She completely renovated and redesigned the property to create a European country house atmosphere, the Wedgewood Hotel was an immediate success when it opened in 1984. Due to hes hard work, the Wedgewood Hotel quickly became an international success, where major celebrities and important dignitaries from around the world visit it.
Eleni Skalbania's attention to detail and tireless commitment to her guests recognized the Wedgewood Hotel nationally as the best hotel in Canada and the only Relais et Chateau in Vancouver according to Trip Advisor 2024.
